January 1-31, 2016

January 1, 2016
TJ started working at McDonalds a couple of weeks ago and has been rocking it. Working in a fast-paced environment with a number of different "Stations" to figure out can be daunting, but TJ is up to the task! She is proving to be a valuable addition to their team and a wonderful employee. Way to go!

Lately Adele's "Hello" has been playing everywhere from TV shows, commercials, on the radio, and in our home. It's a great song - and like every great song, it gets overplayed so much that it becomes old very quickly. I'm not there, yet - after all, it's Adele - but I know the time is coming!

January 3, 2016
The first Sunday with 9 am church means lots of time to make a fun afternoon snack like these soft pretzel bites with honey mustard sauce. Yummy!

January 4, 2016
BB planned a wonderful FHE including a lesson, song, and game! It is a special kind of joy I feel as a parent to see our children growing into wonderful, capable people.

It's been an interesting challenge, having Lyndon be laid off. It's not a dilemma we've faced before. We know it is going to be the best thing for our family, in the long run, and are anxiously looking for the career that he will love and will provide for our family. He is a very good man, hard working, and a sincere heart. I know the Lord has something special lined up for him. I can't wait to see it all play out, no matter how difficult it is in the meantime.
January 6, 2016
Where can I turn for peace? The temple. It was a wonderful experience for us both and we have full confidence that the Lord will bless us as we strive to follow Him and keep His commandments. Life is good!

January 7, 2016
I made some red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting (from scratch, yo) for B's 14th birthday party coming up. They were so yummy. Too yummy. Is there a 12 step program for cupcake addicts?

January 8, 2016
B celebrated turning 14 in style with some of her amazing friends. They ate, laughed, played games, watched movies, and ate some more. A really fun group.

January 9, 2016
A beautiful snowfall left some gorgeous frost on the trees. Lyndon and I took a little drive around town to capture some photographs of the winter wonderland.

January 10, 2016
A frosty Sabbath morning!

January 11, 2016
JJ has been learning how to play my least favorite musical instrument - the recorder. She is very determined to master it, and with her drive - she probably will. Heaven help my ears until then!

We cool

January 13, 2016
Photographed the rest of our YW - a year after photographing the first bunch. Now we've got a photo of each YW in our ward!

January 14, 2016
We lost one of my personal favorite actors today. Alan Rickman passed away after a battle with cancer. He was one of the good ones.

January 15, 2016
The weather warmed up just enough to make an enjoyable afternoon out sledding with friends!

January 16, 2016
A fabulous evening spent with friends (the "V" family) eating, laughing, and learning to be "Guitar Heroes".

January 17, 2016
TJ did an outstanding job singing and playing her ukulele at our Stake Youth Fireside. She sang "Lift Your Eyes" - a song which goes along with this year's Mutual Theme. I was one proud mama.

January 18, 2016
Family Home Evening - complete with hot chocolate and Karaoke. So fun!
January 19, 2016
We decided to head out for another afternoon of sledding before the snow all melts in these warm temperatures. We've got such a fun toboggan hill here in town, too. With the small amounts of snow that our city typically gets, we have to enjoy every second we can.

January 20, 2016
Lately, Lyndon and I have been watching "The Office" - marathon style. Seriously one of the few shows that has me actually laughing out loud. So clever.

January 21, 2016
Lyndon volunteered on a field trip with JJ to the Medalta Potteries. It was a special treat for JJ to have her daddy there.

January 22, 2016
TJ got her hair dyed at a beauty college - an effect called balayage.

January 23, 2016
A first! I tried my hand at making my own buffalo wings at home and they were SOOOOO good! I dusted them in a flour/seasoning mixture, then deep fried, then smothered them in a buttery hot sauce that was to die for. I will definitely be making these again.

January 24, 2016
A wonderful New Beginnings around the theme "Hold To The Rod" where these five girlies were introduced to the YW program. Each of them will be turning 12 this year and moving up into the YW program. They were blindfolded and lead through a "mist of darkness" with people trying to tempt them away from the Iron rod. They all held to the rod and found their way to the tree of life and the fruit which is most precious. Such a great evening. TJ and B each spoke and were given their medallions for having completed the Personal Progress program. I couldn't ask for more amazing girls.

January 25, 2016
It has been my busiest year, yet, with website work. Currently I am taking on these four sites, working with staffing and scheduling, training, proofing, editing, social media promotion, and more. It is very fulfilling and it has been amazing how this work has evolved over the last 6 years. I love what I do!

January 26, 2016
Sometimes the easiest dinner is a breakfast dinner. Pancakes it is!

January 27, 2016
Trying hard to find time for scripture study. Mostly it's hit and miss. But I'm always happy when the stars align and we are able to make it happen

January 28, 2016
A part of my job is writing and photographing recipe posts for HowDoesShe. I love this because it forces me to get creative and think outside the box when it comes to the food I prepare. I need to think "appetizing" and "appealing" in flavour and in appearance. These Gyros are for a sponsored post, so I really need to do an extra great job with the photos. They were pretty darn great, too!

January 29, 2016
Proud of our little "Exemplary student"! She was awarded for excellence in academics and citizenship in all ways, every day. Way to go, BB!

January 30, 2016
I've missed this lady. We had fun shopping at our favorite haunts - Value Village, Michaels, and Winners, followed by lunch at another friend's house (Stephanie). It felt great to catch up and just hang out. Love this girl.

January 31, 2016
Made two batches of caramel corn this weekend - to give out to friends and to give to Lyndon's seminary students on their first day back. It turned out soooo good. I might have snuck a piece - or 15.
